Sarah O’Connor Matrescence Support
A warm, judgment-free brand for a new kind of support for mothers.
“Tonielle understood my business and what I was trying to achieve so quickly and accurately. The brand strategy document really impressed me.
She listened, thought about it in detail and supported my vision. It’s so hard starting a business, and it really helps to feel that others back you to succeed. That’s what Tonielle did. The work is exactly what I hoped for.”
– Sarah O’Connor
Sarah O’Connor is a Certified Matrescence Practitioner in Marlborough. She coaches mothers through matrescence, the shift in identity that comes with becoming a mother. Her clients often arrive feeling like they’re failing, and most have never heard the word for what they’re going through.
That became our anchor: once you have a name for it, things start to make sense.
So we worked from the concept of Becoming: what it looks and feels like to be in the middle of changing. The identity is built on organic abstract forms in transformation. The first expression of that is a rainbow, something beautiful arriving from the rain, its arcs reading like a road or a map, a way through.
The look is bold and graphic, with strong feminine typography that keeps it human and full of personality. An earthy, rich palette and texture steer clear of the “hey mama”, soft-focus, gentle whisper of the wellness world. It’s confident enough to stop you and warm enough to draw you in.
We started with a brand strategy to pin down who Sarah is for and how to speak to them. From there we built her logo, style guide, print and social templates, and a one-page Squarespace site. The site explains matrescence early and answers the questions mothers actually ask, so it can be found in search and by AI tools.
Alongside the design, I mentored Sarah through the launch, helping her feel confident to put herself out there as the face of her business.
